He was a Vice-chairman of the 1st Tokyo Bar Association. Served as defending lawyer for the International Military Tribunal at Tokyo. He wrote a number of unique essays such as "Prohibition of Evidence in Criminal Procedure Code," and "True Duty of Lawyers." Adopted son of the Hanai family (foster father is Takuzo Hanai, noted lawyer). He was appointed public procurator-general since 1957.
