Tadasu Saeki

Background

Tadasu Saeki was born in Ehime Prefecture, Japan in 1876.

Education

Graduated receiving degree of Doctor of Philosophy from 3rd Higher School (1898) and from Graduate School at Yale University, U.S.A., (1907).

Career

He served as engineer of Agriculture Department of U.S.A. and as lecturer of Albany Medical College and thereafter studied in England, Belgium, Germany and France. Returned home (1911) and received a doctorate in medicine (1912). Served as president of Japan Dietetics School.

Achievements

• Founded Nutrition Research Institute (1914) and National Nutrition Research Institute which came under jurisdiction of Home Ministry (1920).
