Tage Poulsen studied photography with J. Juncker-Jensen in 1968 and was influenced by Peter Kinch and H. B. J. Cramer since 1965. He also studied with Stephen Ryan of the Chicago Institute of Design at the Institute of Visual Communication, Academy of Art, Copenhagen (1971-1972).
In the 1980s - a lighting director for TV-Denmark, Tage Poulsen has also been co-editor of the Danish magazines' Foto and Smalfilm since 1970, and regularly contributes photography criticism to both.
Tage Poulsen belongs to Danish Camera Pictorialists (since 1969) and the International Federation of Photographic Art (since 1972).
