Background
Administrator. A retainer of the Yonezawa Clan (Yamagata Prefecture). His common name was Kurobe. Studied administrative affairs in Edo and encouraged thrift in his clan. Upon Harunori (Yozan) Uesugi becoming the Lord of the Yonezawa Clan, he was promoted to the position of Chief Retainer from that of a town magistrate. Owing to his able administration, the Yonezawa Clan became wealthy and industry thrived in its territory.
