Taira no Tadamori was a Military leader of the late Heian period.
Background
Taira no Tadamori was born in 1096 in Japan. His father was Taira no Masamori, a warrior who held territory in the provinces of Ise and Iga, which he donated to Retired Emperor Shirakawa, the actual wielder of power at the time, becoming one of the retired emperor’s attendants.
Career
Tadamori served the retired emperor, and after successfully putting down the pirates who infested the Inland Sea, he was admitted to the court nobility.
He was interested in trade with China, and in 1133 appropriated the goods from a Chinese merchant vessel that had landed at the manor of Kanzaki in the province of Hizen in Kyushu.
