In 1984 Takahisa Miyata received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Science University of Tokyo (now Tokyo University of Science). In 1988 he obtained a Master of Science degree from Louisiana State University. In 1933 Miyata gained a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Washington.
From 1993 to 1994 Takahisa Miyata served as a lecturer at the University Washington, Seattle, and at Chubu University in Kasugai, Japan, in 1994. From 1994 to 1996 he was an assistant Professor at the Numazu College of Technology, and associate professor from 1996 to 1998.
From 1998 to 2001 he served as an associate professor at the Shizuoka Institute of Technology, and at Kobe University from 2001 to 2007, and at the Graduate School of Human Development and Environment, Kobe University, from 2007 to 2008. Since 2008 he has been a professor there. He is also a contributor articles to professional journals.
Takahisa Miyata is a member of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the American Mathematics Society, the Mathematics Society of Japan, Phi Kappa Phi.
