Takamura-no-Ono composed waka and Chinese poems and was reputed as the best poet of the time. He did not go to China because of bis indignation at the tyrannical ways of Tsunetsugu Fujiwara, chief envoy to China. He was punished with exile to Oki Island for that dereliction. Was later pardoned and rose to the rank of Court Councilor.
Takamura-no-Ono was born in 802 in Japan.
He was appointed Dazai Daini (a high office in the government of Kyushu), an associate envoy to China (Tang Dynasty). Rose to the rank of Court Councilor. Composed waka and Chinese poems.
