Take Hagiwara was a Japanese nurse, trained by the Red Cross.
Background
Take Hagiwara was born on 7 February 1877 in Itsukaichi village of the Nishitama District in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Her parents were Chiyo and Hee Saemon Hagiwara and she was the eldest child and only girl, with five younger brothers.
Education
She graduated from nursing school in 1897.
Career
She served as a Japan Red Cross Society nurse for 44 years since 1893. Regarded as the mother of nurses in Japan. In 1909, attended an international conference, of nurses held in London. In 1913 ordered to study in Germany and in 1929 in Canada.
