He studied nutrition at Japan"s Nishikyushu University, then studied Japanese and Spanish cooking.
He lived in Spain for before opening his restaurant, Ohno Neo Bistro, in Punta del Este, Uruguay, where it reflected Latin American influences. His restaurant Ohno Obsolete Bistro is in Buenos Aires. He is known for the television series Ohno, on the Gourmet channel.
He presents conferences and kitchen master classes around the world.
