Takeo Komaki studied at the University of Tokyo.
After graduating from Tokyo University taught briefly at the 3rd and 4th higher schools till he was appointed professor at Kyushu University (1932) where Takeo Komaki remained till he retired (1943). He was conferred a doctorate, Doctor of Law (1945). Later appointed professor at Gakushuin College and Meiji University (1951).
Takeo Komaki was also an accomplished poet which he wrote under the pen name Komaki-Bocho. Among his works are "An Appreciation of German Literature", "Writers of the Romantic German School" and "Essays on Goethe." Translations include works by Novalis and Goethe. A collection of his poems have been assembled under the title "Selected Poems of Bocho."
