Okimono or sculpture in the form of a modernist dragon. Of cast and patinated bronze. Signed on an inlaid silver plaque on the reverse with a chiseled signature (Unno Takeo, 1905 – 1982). With the original wood display stand. Early Showa era, circa 1930 – 1940.

Takeo Unno was born in 1905 in Tokyo, Japan.
Takeo Unno learned Japanese painting at the private school of Reika Yoshikawa and then in 1927 graduated from Tokyo Academy of Arts.
Since 1928 Takeo Unno has been displayed his works at the government-sponsored exhibitions. He was a judge of Nitten (Japan Art Academy Exhibition) and professor of Tokyo College of Art and Science.
Takeo Unno was the son of the metal artist Unno Bissei and nephew of Unno Shōmin.
