Takumi Onda was born in 1749.

Career

He was chief retainer of Yukihiro Sanada, Lord of Matsushiro Clan in Shinano Province (Nagano Prefecture). When Yukihiro became lord of the clan succeeding his father, the Shogunate levied heavy taxes and caused great financial difficulties in the clan. At the time, Takumi was the youngest among Yukihiro's chief retainers but was placed in charge of financial affairs because of his distinguished abilities. He succeeded in restoring the clan's finance to normal by dint of his integrity and industry.
