Career
He worked at the court of prince Radzivil in Neswizh (at the beginning of 17th century he ruled the printing plant). He painted first detailed map of the Grannd Principality of Lithuania (1613, Amsterdam) and made up an explanatory text to it, which
included all important information connected with Belarus and gave general characteristics of the region (you can find this work in the library of Vilnius University).
Makowskiy was the author of engravings with views of Moscow, Neswizh (approximately 1600), Vil`na, Troki, Kletsk, the series of engravings “The siege of Smolensk” (1611), “The panegyric of Skaraylski brothers – Yan, Zakhar and Nikolay” (1604, Neswizh), illustrations to the books “Travelling of Prince Mikolay Radzivil Sirotka to Jerusalem” (1601, Brunsberg), “Gipika” K.Dorogostayskogo (1603 Krakow; 1620 Poznan`). Engravings show the high mastery of the artist.
