Tamaz Mchedlidze began rugby in Tbilisi with the club "Universiteti". Then he moved for the Georgian premiership team Armia Tbilisi. The following year he joined the Union Sportive Bressane, just promoted in Pro D2.
At the end of the season, Tamaz Mchedlidze played 14 games but the team finished at the bottom of the rankings and was relegated.
Mchedlidze joined Agen during the summer 2014. Tamaz Mchedlidze made his debuts for Georgia national team against Belgium on 2 February 2013 during European Nations Cup.
He scored his first international try on 9 March 2013 against Spain, scoring 2 tries.
