Tameoki Oyama was born in 1651. Son of Tameyoshi Matsumoto, a ritualist of the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto, he was adopted by Masayasu oyama.

He became chief priest at the Misake MySjin Shrine at the invitation of the lord of Matsuyama (Ehime Prefecture) (1687). Around 1688, he lectured on Nikon Shoki, a history of ancient Japan, and compiled his lectures into 55 volumes, which was known as Misake Koki. Wrote other books on Shinto literature.
