Tamo-o Kanda graduated from Tokyo University (1915).
Tamo-o Kanda entered Osaka Shosen (O.S.K. Line) Company and served in U.S. and then at its Hong Kong Branch Office. Later he became chief of Archives & Documents Section of the head office, director and senior managing director (1939) and vice-president (1940). Tamo-o Kanda resigned (1946). He was president of Kansai Steamship Company (1946-1954). Held additional posts of member of Osaka Commerce & Industry, director of Traffic Section of the same chamber, permanent director of Kansai Federation of Economic Organizations and director of Japan Shipowners' Association. Became director of Kyokuto (Far Eastern) Aeronautical Company.
