Tamotsu Uryu was born in Japan.
Tamotsu Uryu was a high police official and deputy governor. Distinguished himself as a warrior in the army of the Emperor Godaigo in 1335, but the following year was tempted by Takauji Ashikaga and followed him for a while, but he soon returned to serve the Emperor when he heard that his brother Yoshiaki was raising an army to defend the Emperor and immediately went in to battle against the forces of Moroyasu Kono. He was, however, killed in combat when Moroyasu intercepted him while on his way to relieve Kanagasaki.
