After finishing school at his home town, moved to Tokyo where Tanesuke Kojiro worked in libraries and other places while he made a detailed study of the Meiji Era. He was the first person to use that era as a distinct subject for research. Gradually became so proficient a proofreader that Tanesuke Kojiro earned for himself the nickname of "proof-reading God".
