Became pupil of Keitaro Akizuki in 1901.
He made debut at Kadoza Theater as member of Seibi Troupe. Later changed affiliation to school led by Kitamura in 1904 and thereafter moved from one Shimpa troupe to another and helped in fostering new plays in 1929. While young acted as a young girl and later became an Oyama (female impersonator). Is a brilliant actor who successfully takes in all sorts of roles —both young and old. Received Prize of Osaka City Mayor for excellence in performance as Oyama in 1952 and Education Ministry's Prize for excellent performance as byplayer in 1953.
