Tat’iana Samoilova, USSR Film actress.


Samoilova, Tat’iana was born on May 4, 1934 in Leningrad. Daughter of the actor Evgenii Samoilov.


Graduated from the Shchukin Drama School in 1958.


Played in the Mayakovsky Theatre, then in the Film Actors’ Theatre Studio. First film made in 1955. Her second film, The Cranes Are Flying, directed by Mikhail Kalatozov, made her famous all over the world.

The film was shown at the Cannes Film Festival with tremendous success. This was followed by An Unposted Letter, also directed by Kalatozov. Played opposite the famous actor Innokentii Smoktunovskii.

Starred in the Franco-Soviet coproduction, Leon Garros is Looking For His Friend, 1961. Played Anna Karenina in Aleksandr Zarkhi’s film of the same title, which was discussed for months in the Russian press. Her other films were less successful and she disappeared from the screen in the late 1970s.
