Background
Tatsumune Gaun was born in 1842 in Nagano Prefecture.
Achievements
In 1875, Gaun Tatsumune invented a genuinely Japanese spinning machine, which won a prize at the first national exhibition in 1877. It was soon superseded by more advanced Western machines. He improved his machine so as to suit thicker threads.
