Teiji Kudo

Background

Teiji Kudo was born in 1860.

Career

Teiji Kudo was bandmaster of Toyama Military School (1893) before proceeding to Europe for further training in music. After staying there for several years, he returned home and created the first military band in Japan. Together with the noted German composer, Eckel, he composed the dirge titled "Height of Sorrow" for the funeral march of Empress Dowager Eisho.
