Background

Emperor Reigen was born on July 9, 1654. He was the son of Emperor Gomino-o and his consort, Motoko Fujiwara, whose title was Shinkogimon-in.

Career

He ascended the throne (1663) and abdicated (1687) in favor of Emperor Higashiyama.
