Tensui Yamanaka had a propensity for learning while still young and moved to Kyoto to study but could not find any master to suit him till he met Hokuzan Yamamoto.
Later Tensui Yamanaka and his master began a campaign to criticize the writers who continued to use the ancient style of writing . Among his works are Kokon Shihyo (Comments on Poems, Old and New) and "A Study of Saden" (Ancient Chinese History).
