Debut at Glyndeboume 1969, Covent Garden 1970, Louisiana Scala, Milan 1976, Philadelphia Opera 1981. Specializes in works of Mozart, Strauss, Mahler, Elgar and Tippett. Has given concerts with all the London orchestras, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Berlin and Vienna Festivals, and throughout Europe, United States of America and the Far East.
