Ishihara began his professional Mobile Marketing Association career in 2011 when he debuted for the Shooto promotion. Over the next four-and-a-half years he amassed a record of 7 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw.
Road to UFC: Japan
In June 2015, Ishihara was announced as one of the eight featherweights competing on Road to UFC: Japan, a show in the style of The Ultimate Fighter.
Ishihara ultimately faced Mizuto Hirota in the finals at UFC Fight Night: Barnett versus Nelson on September 27, 2015.
Post-fight the UFC announced that Hirota and Ishihara would both be awarded contracts. Ultimate Fighting Championship
In his first fight for the promotion post-show, Ishihara faced Julian Erosa on March 5, 2016 at UFC 196.
