Background

Tetsunojo Kanze was born in in Tokyo. His original personal name: Shigeru. He was the second son of Kosetsu Tetsunojo V.

Career

Tetsunojo Kanze adopted heir of his elder brother Tetsunojo VI (Kōsetsu) and upon his brothers retirement (1948), he succeeded to the name of Tetsunojo VII. His style resembles that of his uncle and predecessor Manzaburo Umewaka.
