Given the explosive creativity shown by Chicana writers over the past two decades, this first major anthology devoted to their work is a major contribution to American letters. It highlights the key issues, motifs, and concerns of Mexican American women from 1848 to the present, and particularly reflects the modern Chicana's struggle for identity.

Tey Diana Rebolledo was born on April 29, 1937, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Washington Antonio, a professor of Spanish and author, and Esther Vernon Galindo Rebolledo, a creative writer.
Rebolledo attended Connecticut College, where, in 1959, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She also studied at the University of New Mexico, and, in 1962, she received a Master of Arts degree. At the University of Arizona, Tey received Ph.D., in 1979.
After receiving a Ph.D. in Spanish in 1979, Rebolledo moved on to teach college and write. Rebolledo focuses on the writing of women writers, especially Latina women. She tracks the progress of Chicana writers from 1880 to the early 1990s in Infinite Divisions: An Anthology of Chicana Writers. In Las Mujeres hablan: An Anthology of Nuevo Mexicana Writers, which Rebolledo compiled, she presents readers with the work of budding Chicana writers.

1995In 1990, Rebolledo became a member of the coordinating committee and conference coordinator of the National Association for Chicano Studies and Modem Language Association.
The daughter of creative writers, Rebolledo was greatly influenced by her parents’ examples. Her father, a professor and published author, hosted a Spanish-language radio talk show that focused on Latino culture, and the discussions gave Rebolledo an appreciation for her cultural heritage. Trips to Mexico also contributed to Re- bolledo’s growing Latina identity. Rebolledo was so immersed in Latina culture that when her family moved to Connecticut she experienced culture shock.
Rebolledo married Michael M. Passi. They have a daughter, Tey Mariana Nunn.
