In New York his first architectural commission was the old Eden Musee on 23rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues which he designed in association with the late Henry Fernbach, and after the latter's death in 1883 DeLemos completed work on the structure.
In the following year he formed a partnership with A. W. Cordes and continued an active member of the firm the rest of his life. His work included a large number of Department Stores in New York such as Macy’s and Cooper Siegels, also several private homes for prominent New York families, and the following public and commercial buildings; Arion Club House; Grand Central Palace; Banking Houses of Speyer & Company and Kuhn Loeb Company; Boskowitz Building, and the New York National Bank Building.
