Graduate Real-Gymnasium, Darmstadt, 1878. Graduate in Pharmacy and Ph.C., Columbia, 1911. The Master of Philisophy honoris causa, Philadelphia, College of Pharmacy and Science.

Career

Came to the United States, 1885, naturalized, 1890. Began career as apprentice to E. Merck, Darmstadt, 1878. United States representative Merck interests, 1887-1890.

Partner Merck & Company, 1890, sold interests in firm, 1904. With Lowell M. Palmer bought controlling interest in E. R. Squibb & Sons (manufacturing chemists), director, since 1905, Chairman of the Board. Member board directors Squibb Plan, Inc.

Director Lentheric, Inc., Squibb Properties Corporation Trustee Columbia University College of Pharmacy, since 1917. Life member Columbia University College of Pharmacy, since 1900.
