She was born in Merzig. Zenz competed for Saar in the 1952 Summer Olympics and finished ninth in the K-1 500 metres competition. In 1956 and 1960, she competed for the Unified Team of Germany.

Competing in three Summer Olympics, she won three silver medals (1956: K-1 500 m, 1960: K-1 500 m, K-2 500 m). Zenz won three medals at the International Coach Federation Canoe Sprint World Championships with a gold (K-1 500 m: 1954 for Saar) and two bronzes (K-1 500 m and K-2 500 m: both 1958 for West Germany).
