On the International Tennis Federation Junior Circuit, Monteiro peaked in the rankings at Number. 2 on 2 February, 2012, with his biggest junior singles title being the Grade A, Copa Gerdau in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 2012. In his first Association of Tennis Professionals match, coming as WC into the Association of Tennis Professionals 500 Rio de Janeiro in February 2016, being just the world n.338, surprised everyone by beating Number.
