He was educated at Durham University and ordained in 1916.
Career
He served as an Army Chaplain and afterwards as Vicar of Orford, Lancashire. He was principal from 1929 until he became Dean of Newcastle in 1936. In 1943 he was appointed Bishop of Wangaratta, a position he held until his death in 1963.
Membership
In 1928 he went to Australia as a member of the Brotherhood of the Good Shepherd at Dubbo.
