Private tuition. Was the first Managing Director of Southall Brothers & Barclay, Limited., Birmingham, which position he still holds. Was for 8 years member King’s Norton School Board, and 9 years member of the Birmingham City Council, during that time he was a member of the Water Committee and one of the pioneers of the scheme for bringing the Welsh water to Birmingham.
Represented British Pharmacists at the International Congress, 1881. After several years’ agitation commencing 1877, succeeded in abolishing the compulsory collection of Income Tax, Land Tax Grants, by unwilling collectors. Was the Founder of the Chemists’ and Druggists’ Trade Association of Great Britain, 1876.
