Thomas studied four years from 1907 to 1911 at the School of Architecture, and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States.
Thomas joined the drafting staff of the firm of Mills. Bellman & Nordhoff. He remained with the firm ten years, leaving in 1922 to practice in association with Harry C. Wachter until 1933. The following two years he worked alone, then during the last three years of his career maintained a partnership with Mr. Hewlett, during which period he had complete charge and supervision of the planning and erection of the following buildings in Toledo: the Commercial Bank Building; Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and the Civic Auditorium and Exposition Building.
