Following the end of the Civil War Mr. Evans joined the local office of Barr & Moser, and after a few years of practical training there, in 1871 began practice for himself. In his work during the following years he designed several well-known buildings in Pittsburgh, including the Shakespeare Library; Lewis Office Building, also the Catholic Academy of St. Xavier at Latrobe, Pa.
Elected a member of the A.l.A. early in his career, he served on the national Board of Directors in 1879, and for many years was active in the Pittsburgh Chapter, A.l.A.
