In 1860 he resided in Savannah. Forman served in the Provisional Confederate Congress from August 1861 until February 1862.
During the remainder of the war, Thomas raised funds for the Georgia State Navy. After the war, Forman returned to farming.
Forman was married to Helen Brooke. They had five children.
