Mr. George began his career in the office of Clinton & Russell and maintained his connection with the firm for half a century. His office was in the Wall Street Tower at 70 Pine Street, 67 stories in height, the third tallest skyscraper in Manhattan. Clinton & Russell designed the tower in 1932 connecting it with the older building at 50 Wall Street by an underground passage and bridge.
Mr. George had much to do with the planning and execution of some of the firm’s most important work in New York, including the following buildings: Hotel Astor; Exchange Court Building; National Board of Fire Underwriters’ Building; New Amsterdam Casualty Building; Cities Service Building, 1932; and large structures in other cities.
