Thomas was born on June 10, 1956 in Lakewood, Ohio, United States.
One of four children, Hudson grew up in Lakewood, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, and graduated from Lakewood High School in 1973. In 1980, Hudson graduated in the top 10% of his class from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio, after graduating Cum Laude from Kenyon College in 1977.
Thomas Hudson started his career in law as an Assistant County Prosecutor in Cleveland, Ohio. In that position, he tried approximately 200 jury trials over a period of six years. He went into solo private practice in Cleveland in 1986 and practiced criminal and personal injury law.
In 1996, Hudson moved to Sarasota, Florida and opened up an office, while maintaining an office in Cleveland. In 1998, he opened a satellite office in Key West, Florida. Initially, his Florida practice was general, but soon narrowed to Criminal Defense, and then narrowed further to DUI Defense in the early 2000s.

2013Thomas Hudson is a secular Jew with strong beliefs about the separation of church and state.
He has been a member of the faculty of the Summer Session of the National College for DUI Defense since 2014. This session is held each summer at the Harvard Law School in Cambridge.
Hudson has a reputation for a quick wit. He worked his way through law school as a radio personality in Cleveland and continued to work in radio for a total of 33 years. For three years in the 1980s, as he first developed a private practice, he worked full-time as the afternoon drive personality at WHK Radio in Cleveland. After moving to Florida, he worked for 13 years at WSRZ-FM in Sarasota.
He is married since 1980 to his wife Ruth. He has two daughters.
