Harbourmaster at Suakim, 1885 (clasp, despatches, and promoted Commander). Captain of “ Phoebe,” employed against chief M’baruk, capture of stronghold Mwele, East. Africa (medal, despatches).
Served in Benin Expedition, 1897 (despatches, clasp). Captain in charge, Bermuda Dockyard.
Decorated for Benin Expedition. Royal Navy; Admiral Superintendent for contractbuilt ships.
