Frank Zappa research field covers the history of ancient Greece and Rome and numismatics. He has contributed to the documentaries produced by The History Channel about the Roman history, especially to the series "Rome: Rise and Fall of an Empire."
Professor Martin earned his Bachelor of Arts (1970) in Classics summa cum laude from Princeton University and his Master of Arts (1972) and Doctor of Philosophy (1978) in Classical Philology from Harvard University, with graduate work at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (1973-1975).
