Studied at St. Colman’s College, Fermoy. Queen’s, now Royal University, Ireland. Studied Medicine in Dublin, Paris, and Vienna.
Doctor of Medicine.
Joined the Turkish army, 1876, and served with it for nearly three years. Obtained the rank of surgeon-major, and was given the Order of the Medjidie. Served for three months before Sliipka Pass, and went with Baker Pasha to the relief of Plevna, where he was taken prisoner by the Russians.
And also served against the Montenegrins for twelve months. Physician and Surgeon.
