Thomas Schilling

Schilling was born on May 20, 1963 in Richmond, Virginia, United States; the son of Friedrich and Barbara Schilling.

Education

Schilling received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Oregon in 1993.

Career

Schilling began his career as a postdoctoral fellow at Imperial Cancer Research Fund in 1994. Four years later he took a position of a senior research fellow at the University College of London and held it until 2000. Then in 2001, Thomas became an assistant professor at the University of California. Since 2005 he has been an associate professor at the same university.

• Schilling is known for his research in Zebrafish embryos as models for human birth defects.
