Mr. Silloway moved to Boston in 1851, studied for the ministry.
After taking up architectural work, he designed numerous churches in New England, said to number nearly four hundred. In addition he planned various public buildings, including the Goddard Seminary at Barre, Vt.. Jenkins Memorial Library, North Conway, N. H„ and in 1872 was commissioned architect of buildings at Buchtel College in Akron, Ohio. Some years later after the earthquake which devastated much of the city of Charleston, S. C., Mr. Silloway participated in reconstruction work and rebuilt at least six churches.
