He was a younger son of John Tasburgh of Flixton, Suffolk and educated at Gray"s Inn.

Tasburgh served as a Justice of the Peace for Buckinghamshire from 1579 and was pricked High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire for 1581-1582. He was teller of the Exchequer from 1598 to 1602.
He was elected a Member of Parliament for Buckinghamshire in 1588, Aylesbury in 1584, 1586 and 1597, and Chipping Wycombe in 1593.
