Thomas E. Wood was born on June 21, 1948, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, United States. He built his professional career within Pennsylvania’s legal community, working with both state and federal courts and contributing to legal practice in the Harrisburg area.
Wood received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia in 1970. He later attended Dickinson School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1976. His legal studies laid the foundation for a career focused on civil litigation and specialized areas of law, including health care and hospital-related legal matters.
After completing law school, Wood served as a law clerk to the Honorable R. Dixon Herman of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania from 1976 to 1978. This position provided him with valuable experience in federal court procedures and judicial decision-making.
He subsequently entered private legal practice and became associated with the Harrisburg firm Keefer, Wood, Allen & Rahal. His work there covered a wide range of legal issues, including corporate and business law, insurance matters, negligence cases, hospital and health care law, probate, education law, and Pennsylvania taxation.
Wood was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar in 1976. During his career he was also admitted to practice before several federal courts, including the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania (1978), the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit (1982), and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (1984). His practice included both trial and appellate litigation.
Wood has been active in professional legal organizations. He is a member of the Dauphin County Bar Association, where he served on the board of directors from 1983 to 1985 and chaired the Young Lawyers Section in 1984. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
