Education

Trail graduated from Moscow High School and earned his bachelor"s degree in animal science from the University of Idaho. He earned his master"s degree from the University of Maryland and earned his doctorate in experimental psychology from Montana State University.

Career

Trail previously served consecutively in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1997 until 2001 when the seat was in District 5. Trail is retiring from the Idaho Legislature in 2012 after 16 years of service. 2002 Redistricted to District 6, and with Representative Frank Bruneel re-districted to District 7, Trail was unopposed for the May 28, 2002, Republican primary, winning with 1,554 votes, and was unopposed for the November 5, 2002, general election, winning with 9,285 votes.
