Admitted to Minnesota bar, 1888, and practiced at Minneapolis until 1899, at New York since 1899. As counsel for Jewel Palmer Macdonald before Canadian Ministry secured commutation of sentence for first American woman sentenced to be hanged in Canada, 1928. Organized, with Luther H. Gulick, the Camp Fire Girls of America, 1912.
Married Mary A. Kennedy, October 26, 1893. Children: Mistress Barbara Gold Shively, Dorothy Dean.
