Pisa and Florence Universities. Doctor of Medicine, Chief D., Pisa and Florence. Examiner in Clinical Surgery, Sydney University.
Came to Australia, 1875. Practised at first in Windsor, New South Wales. Settled in Sydney, 1883.
Joined the New South Wales Army Medical Corps, 1891. Was attached as Medical Officer to New South Wales Lancers. Obtained leave of absence for six months and joined the Italian army in Abyssinia, 1896, marching with them as far as Kassala.
Received cross of Cavaliere dei Steamship Maurizio e Lazzaro from late King Humbert for special merits during Italo-Abyssinian campaign. In October 1899 volunteered for active service in South Africa, where he remained till 1900 in command of the New South Wales No. 1 Field Hospital.

S.M.O. to General Hutton’s Brigade. Promoted Lieutenant-Colonel A.M.C. 1901. Honourable Surgeon to Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia since 1902. Companion of the Distinguished Service Order 1901; N.S. W. A.M.C.; Surgeon practising in Sydney; Honourable Surgeon Sydney Hos pital.
