Began manufacturer of axle grease, 1889, with father and brothers, and in 1898, erected at Albany, New York, a complete, modern factory. Refusing an offer to sell out to the Standard Oil Corporation, a fight was precipitated, resulting in the Hisgen Brothers going also into the kerosene oil business as competitors of the Standard Oil Corporation. Retired. Candidate Democratic and Independence League for state auditor of Massachusetts, 1906.
Candidate of Independence League for government of Massachusetts, 1907, and of National Independence Party for president of the United States, 1908.
Author of Anti-Discrimination-Unfair Trade Bill (first anti-monopoly bill passed in North.E.).
